Martha was not a good cook. One Christmas, Martha decided to try a microwave oven Christmas pudding recipe. She followed every step and got each member of the family to stir the mixture for good luck.

When it came time to cook the pudding, Martha could not believe that 10 minutes would be enough. She decided to use her normal oven cooking time of 50 minutes.

Martha watched TV while the pudding cooked. She didn't see or hear the pudding smoking and popping in the microwave oven. When she finally took out the pudding, it smelled of burnt sugar and looked like a ball of tar.

The hard black pudding ball was stuck to the bottom of the bowl. Martha had to use a screwdriver to get it out. As she lifted it, the black Christmas pudding ball went flying across the room. Martha's dog, Monty, caught it.

Monty loved his new toy. He played with it all the time and it lasted until the next Christmas.
